Lake Kivu is located in the western province of Rwanda. It is one of Africa’s Great Lakes, covers total surface area of 2,700 km and stands at a height of 1,460 meters above sea level. It is Rwanda’s largest body of freshwater.
Rwanda has a number of different art galleries and museums, revealing a rich African heritage that goes back as far as Pre-colonial 15th century. A civilised time of harmony, monarchy and socialism.
The park was established in 1934 and lies in the eastern province of Rwanda, bordering Tanzania. It is central Africa’s largest protected wetland, a habitat to over 8,000 large animals and over 500 diverse species of birds.
