He’s quite knowledgeable about the history of Rwanda and calmly and patiently answered all our questions ( which we had a lot). His driving made me feel safe even on those scary , scenic mountainous winding roads and I appreciate him stopping for us to get some really good pictures along the road. In one week we were able to go from Central Rwanda (Kigali) to the North, South, Eastern and western areas of the country.
Well organized tours and value for money as it included the activities and hotels and food! We did the safari at Akagera National park, Nyungwe National Park (canopy), Volcanoes National Park (golden monkeys trekking) and chimpanzees trek.
The office staff along with my friend even arranged to have a surprise birthday party for me on Lake Kivu!!! .and we got to stay in a tent one night overlooking Lake kivu as well as a few nights at the famous Hotel des Mille Collines (hotel Rwanda).
it was like living a dream for a week..

  I just finished a 5 day/4 night private Rwanda tour operated by Nziza Safaris with Vincent as my guide. What a truly spectacular experience— one of the most memorable trips... read more of my life. Initially, we had planned a 6 day/5 night safari, but flight delays meant we had to shorten by a day. This was no problem and they managed to accommodate everything by simply compressing the itinerary a bit. We saw Chimpanzees, Gorillas, Golden Monkeys, Baboons, and some of the most beautiful landscapes with fascinating people. I cannot recommend Rwanda and RwandaTours enough. They will be able to customize a great package for you and see all the highlights of Rwanda. I can’t wait to come back!

Travelling in COVID is certainly daunting, but I would highly recommend Rwanda for travel ASAP— I have never felt safer from COVID. I visited at the start of September in the midst of heightened COVID precautions. Upon arrival in Rwanda, I quarantined at Des Milles Collines (a very nice hotel) for 24 hours and was tested for COVID in the hotel. I also needed a test pre-arrival which I was able to get in the Frankfurt Airport. The 24 hour quarantine was easy and seamless and they have a doctor come and test you in your room. My results ended up taking a bit longer than 24 hours, but Vincent and Nziza Safaris got in touch with the Rwandan tourism board and Rwandan Biomedical center to expedite the process and ensure we could still transit to the first destination as scheduled. You also need a test before departure from Rwanda, but the guide can easily coordinate this. Rwanda has handled COVID very well. Their case numbers are quite low and they have done over half a million tests. The entire population is very disciplined about mask-wearing, and you will feel safe traveling with Nziza.

Pre-Covid, you may have needed to jostle for space in packed Gorilla treks of 8-10 people, my gorilla trek was only 3 people so there were plenty of opportunities for perfect photos and we were assigned a great group of gorillas. I was alone with the guide for the golden monkeys trek instead of in a full group. The Rwandan population is much more disciplined about wearing masks than Canada or the USA. In the national parks, everyone must wear a mask to prevent spreading infection to gorillas and everyone must be tested and pass a temperature screen. You don’t need to worry about social distancing at accommodations as most are quite empty (in Volcanoes park at Le Bambou, I was the only guest in a 24 cabin lodge). There were numerous check stops arising from COVID, but Vincent, my guide was always able to get us through. The one night that we needed to transit after curfew, he was able to obtain a curfew pass allowing us to travel at night.

While certainly travel during COVID can be daunting, I believe now is the time to go! Moreover, these communities need our tourism dollars to survive and the lack of tourists is hurting them. Be safe and get tested before you visit and take good health insurance, but I would not hesitate to take the trip of a lifetime and visit Rwanda. This is a special country and tourists will certainly come back in droves in due course. However, I cannot think of a better time to experience it and see wildlife without hordes of tourists while valuably supporting local communities and tourism who need our money more than ever. Cannot recommend enough!
